Information Technology Operations Manager - Systems Administrator - Help Desk

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated IT Operations Manager - Help Desk - System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of our systems. This role requires a strong understanding of system administration, on-premise infrastructure and cloud technologies. The IT Operations Manager is accountable for the efficient operation of IT support functions and requires proactive management, technical ownership, and strong problem-solving skills. The IT Manager will also work closely with small but mighty team of direct reports to establish career development plans, set clear performance expectations, and track progress for the department.
Responsibilities
•Oversee Help Desk: Ensure timely resolution of all support requests, prioritize critical issues, and maintain service level standards. Act as the primary escalation point for critical and unresolved tickets, coordinating cross-functional support as needed.
•Administer Microsoft Technologies: Proficient in O365 administration, Active Directory management, on-prem Windows server administration, and Power Automate with basic understanding of .NET support.
•Basic SSL Certificate Management: Knowledge of SSL certificate management, including tracking expiration dates and coordinating renewals as necessary.
•Proactively Manage Resolution Pathways: Evaluate the best resolution path for Help Desk issues, taking ownership of issues until final resolution and preventing unnecessary escalations.
•Maintain Detailed Process Documentation: Document all processes, incident resolutions, and knowledge base articles to facilitate consistent service and mitigate knowledge loss.
•Track and Manage Inventory Levels: Maintain accurate inventory levels of standard-issue hardware and software; ensure proactive tracking of renewals,
expirations (e.g., warranties, SSL certificates), and updates.
•Perform Quality Control for Infrastructure Tickets: Oversee and ensure quality control for all Tier 1-3 infrastructure tickets, verifying completion, accuracy, and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
o 5+ years of experience in System Administration at a medium-sized company or Managed Service Provider (MSP), managing diverse IT environments and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
o Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) and/or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner preferred, demonstrating foundational knowledge in cloud services.
o Alternatively, experience as the sole IT person at a smaller company, with proven ability to manage all IT operations independently, including system administration, troubleshooting, and user support.
