The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a experienced Structural Buildings Engineer II for our Jacksonville, Charlotte, Dallas, or San Antonio Office.
Job Summary:
The Sr. Structural Engineer will lead the structural design focusing on federal projects, as well as leading designs of aviation and commercial buildings. Our projects range from small renovations to large multi-building projects and include both national and international projects. This position performs all conventional aspects of engineering design and development, including the planning and conducting of work requiring more advanced techniques. This position independently performs a variety of assignments requiring skills in all conventional aspects of engineering designs for projects of moderate size and complexity
Essential Functions:
- Prepare construction documents, including structural drawings and specifications
- Perform structural calculations by hand and with computer-assisted engineering software
- Coordinate with other internal disciplines, including architecture, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical
- Review shop drawings, answer requests for information, and provide construction site visits
- Designs a complete project, system, component, or process and prepares project documents, engineering analysis, and reports.
- Performs quality control reviews and ensures achievement of key milestones. Perform as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications
- Formulates and solves problems with timely and innovative solutions
- Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements. Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline
- May provide technical guidance and assign tasks to junior and support staff for project duration. May also manage discipline and small multidisciplinary teams and ensure adherence to company and project contractual requirements
- Performs all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Registration
- This experience includes working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects
- Proven experience leading and/or providing technical guidance to entry/junior-level staff. This includes proven experience reviewing others' work for technical accuracy
- Proven experience participating in the design and implementation of new services, processes, standards, and/or operational plans that had great impact on the achievement of functional results.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
- Understanding of building codes and specific design codes related to structural engineering (ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, etc)
- Proficient in Revit
- Skilled in the use of structural design and analysis software (ETABS, RAM, Enercalc, etc)
- Ability and willingness to travel in the US and internationally
- US Citizen or National per client requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project experience for Federal clients, including military and NASA.
- Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) documents experience, including Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS)
