Controller

A private organization in California is currently seeking a new Controller for a promising opportunity with their growing team. In this role, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting operations for the organization.

Responsibilities:

The Controller will:

• Prepare/review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting
• Prepare/review audit schedules, tax reports, financial information, KPI's, budgets, etc.
• Provide internal and external financial analysis and reporting as needed - capital expenditures, cost/benefit projects, ROI analysis, special projects, and recommendations
• Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
• Assist in overall treasury management
• Prepare cash projections, manage cash flow planning process, and ensure funds availability
• Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan
• Develop business plans and forecasts in collaboration with senior leadership
• Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets to monitor progress and present operational metrics internally and externally
• Assist in cash management and ensure compliance with the board approved investment policy and investment of short-term funds in accordance with established guidelines and practices
• Oversee accounting staff to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions
• Perform other duties, as needed

• 5+ years of progressive Finance experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, & Finance
• Proficient in Database and Accounting computer application systems
• Microsoft Excel proficient
• Solid analytical and problem solving skills
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

• Experience with Nonprofit sectors, Educational entities and/or independent schools
• Auditing background
• Experience with Blackbaud financial management software
