The Quality Assurance Inspector for Construction will perform on-site assessments of the construction contractor's implementation of the approved Quality Control (QC) plan and prepare a written report documenting that evaluation. This position will assist field staff in verifying the suitability of the contractor's QC testing and will also be responsible for reviewing MBTA sub-contractor qualifications. Duties & Responsibilities
Perform inspections of MBTA construction projects to verify the implementation of the approved project QC plan and adherence to the MBTA quality requirements. Inspect sub-contractor and vendor work to assure compliance with approved quality plans and adherence to the MBTA quality requirements. Prepare written quality surveillance reports for the project sites and fabricator shops inspected. Participate in formal Quality Audits of Contractors' QC Procedures. Review quality-related submittals for conformance with the plans and specifications. Recommend issuance of non-conformance reports as needed. Provide technical guidance regarding QC inspection and testing to field staff. Work with MBTA field staff to verify non-conforming work is resolved in accordance with approved procedures. Review MBTA Sub-Contractor acceptance requests for conformance with specified criteria. Complete other related tasks as assigned. Will report to the Senior Quality Control Engineer. Drive a company or personal vehicle to work sites to perform Quality Control Inspections as needed. Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned. Additional responsibilities may include a focus on one or more departments or locations. See applicable addendum for department or location-specific functions. Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Five (5) years of experience performing quality control inspections. Formal Quality Control training from a recognized agency (NTI, NETTCP, NICET, or similar). Capable of reviewing contract drawings, specifications, standards, shop drawings, and other technical documents related to construction contracts. Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, and good written and oral communication skills. The ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint computer applications. The ability to address large groups as well as the ability to handle potentially sensitive situations with construction contractors and engineering consultants. Must possess a valid driver's license without infractions under MBTA policy. Substitutions Include
