Simulation Software Engineering Intern
Wing, Palo Alto, California, 94306
About Wing: Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing's fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on three continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. To do this, we must build a workforce that's representative of the global communities that we serve. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us. About the Opportunity: Wing is looking for an engineering internto join our Simulation team based in Palo Alto, CA. Our team develops tools that enable engineers to develop, test and deploy features efficiently and at scale. Our work spans vehicle physics and sensor modeling, large-scale simulation frameworks, test infrastructure for backend verification, and integrated avionics and system testing. Our team is dedicated to ensuring simulation is the fastest and most reliable way to test changes to our system and introduce new features. In this role, you will: Help us track towards our vision of having simulation be indistinguishable from real flights, by closing the gap between simulation models and real data. Analyze real-world data, coming up with new ideas for how to integrate it directly into our simulation models, or prototyping concepts for continuously improving model fidelity from ongoing production flights. What You'll Need: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related field, graduating between December 2025 and August 2026 Strong examples of previous engineering experience from past internships and/or academic or extracurricular projects Strong grasp of basic physics and engineering fundamentals in at least one domain (e.g. mechanics, dynamics, electrical, vision, etc.) Experience with C++ and/or Python Experience with using some numerical or statistics library and environment (e.g. numpy, scipy, pandas, Matlab, R, etc.) to analyze real-world data (e.g. fitting models, simple ML approaches) This is your chance to: Gain experience with leveraging large amounts of real-world data to improve large-scale simulation tools, on a team that is equipped to make your experience as smooth as possible Make a measurable impact on Wing's ability to scale our operations more rapidly, at the forefront of the rapidly growing drone delivery industry Be a part of a dynamic and collaborative team About the Program: Wing is hosting a 12 week paid internship during the summer of 2025.
