HR Director, Production Location: Must live in Tallahassee, FL(relocation assistance will be provided) Onsite expectations: Hybrid- Remote In office/travel to site locations Reports to: Head of HR FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: The HR Director will lead the HR function for our Production department, which includes 20 Cultivation & Processing sites and over 2,300 employees. This role will oversee two HR Managers ensuring comprehensive leadership and guidance across these functions. The HR Director will be a key partner to the Chief Production Officer and the site leadership, focusing on employee relations, talent management, and strategic HR initiatives that align with business objectives. This role will be the talent and culture steward within Production. The HR Director will report to the Head of HR and be an integral part of the HR Leadership Team, contributing actively to the overall HR strategy. The role will be based in Tallahassee Florida and include regular travel to domestic sites. Key responsibilities for this position include: Leadership and Oversight: Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the HR team, including direct reports. Ensure these functions are aligned with business goals and HR best practices. Employee Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with department leaders and site management to guide on employee relations matters, including onboarding, recognition, performance management, and investigations. Talent Management: Partner with the production leadership to recommend and implement programs for employee attraction, retention, and turnover reduction. Drive initiatives for talent acquisition, employee training, and development, enhancing the overall employee experience. Strategic HR Initiatives: Lead the documentation and communication of progressive job titles, skills, competencies, and compensation structures for both hourly and salaried positions. Support alignment with established compensation structures and career progression frameworks. HR Operational Support: Advise and support key stakeholders and leaders on all people matters within Production, Cultivation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Facilities cross functional teams. Workforce Planning: Collaborate with leadership to forecast workforce needs and develop strategic plans to address talent gaps, succession planning, and workforce optimization. Work closely with TA team and processes with dotted line ownership. HR Shared Services: Leverage Shared Services (Compensation, Benefits, L&D, TA) to enhance employee engagement. Ensure smooth HR operations, utilizing these resources effectively to support production HR teams. Culture and Engagement: Lead initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture, driving employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, and promoting company values. Communication and Appraisals: Facilitate employee communication channels and support performance appraisal processes to ensure clear, consistent, and constructive feedback across the workforce. Corporate HR Alignment: Interface regularly with Corporate HR, Legal, Compliance, and Safety teams to ensure site HR practices are aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements. This position works on site at Production and Cultivation facilities on a regular basis. Supervisory Responsibilities: The HR Director is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the HR function in this department. This includes responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and addressing complaints and resolving issues, all in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Master’s preferred. 12 years of HR experience required; 7 years of HR leadership preferred 7 years of HR experience in a manufacturing or plant setting required. Deep expertise in employee relations, attraction, and retention strategies. Knowledge of employment and labor laws, including positive labor relations and work with union workforce, CBA and organized labor activities. Strong Investigations experience and skills to support HR and business partners Familiarity with labor costs and compensation management. Strong communication, interpersonal, and listening skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively. ; Strong analytical skills and business acumen. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Leadership excellence: Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing HR teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
