JOB SUMMARYThe position of Paint Technician will perform duties in the process of applying protective paints to internal and external surfaces of turbine engine components. Technicians will ensure proper preparation of the component prior to commencing spray operations. This position will work alongside experienced Paint Technicians that allow continuous interaction of techniques, skill knowledge, print reading and interpretation. You will become familiar with various types of paint application processes and equipment to aerospace components. Visit www.componentrepair.com for more information.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThrough our extensive in-house training program, (OJT) the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position.1. Clean surfaces to be painted using solvents to ensure adhesion of the paint. 2. Set-up necessary fixtures for holding parts during the painting process.3. Mix paint as required and load spray equipment to manufacturer guidelines.4. Perform spray test applications to ensure proper mixture and functioning of equipment.5. Apply (via spray gun equipment) to all non-masked areas of the component, applying even coatings to ensure proper thickness per work instructions.6. Inspect component via a white light part inspection criteria.7. Remove all masking materials as required. 8. Wipe off any paint over-spray on non-painted areas. 9. Bake part as required per procedure.10. Clean all fixtures and spray equipment.11. Inspect work for completion and quality.12. Record in a clear and accurate manner, all necessary information on applicable documentation.13. Routinely use overhead cranes and other support equipment in the staging and preparation of components.14. Load and unload completed (paint) components into curing ovens, operating in a high heat environment and high component temperature.15. Perform the duties associated with the preparation of the component, such as grit blasting and masking, commonly referred to as surface preparation.16. Perform final inspection of work as a certified final paint inspector and associated duties.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Two years minimum experience working in a manufacturing environment, with some experience in paint application in similar fields, such as autobody or a manufacturing environment.2. Experience in the use of measuring devices such as scales, micrometers, and calipers.3. Experience in reading shop drawings and work instructions and the documentation of work performed.4. Previous experience in the operation of overhead cranes.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS1. High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.2. Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.3. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.4. Must be able to use hand tools and have good hand eye coordination. 5. Ability to work independently and have the knowledge to perform the job with minimum supervision. WORK ENVIRONMENTWork in varying positions from time to time.
