The Vice President of Reactor Development will lead the design, development, and commercialization of advanced microreactor technologies. This role is crucial in driving the company's mission to deliver innovative, reliable, and safe microreactor systems for a wide range of applications, including remote and island communities, remote industry, edge computing applications, military bases, disaster relief efforts, and maritime deployment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear reactor design, advanced materials, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional team leadership. They will oversee the end-to-end development of microreactors, from early-stage design to prototyping, testing, and final commercialization, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to industry standards. Key Responsibilities:  Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the design, testing, and commercial rollout of the company's microreactor products.  Project Management: Oversee the development lifecycle of microreactor technologies, including the integration of fuel systems, coolant technologies, and reactor safety systems.  Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and project managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical rigor.  Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all reactor development activities comply with national and international nuclear safety and environmental regulations and work closely with regulatory bodies to facilitate licensing and certification processes.  Cross-functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the company's engineering, research, product management, and commercialization teams to ensure that technical development aligns with business goals and market needs.  Partnership Development: Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including research institutions, government agencies, and industry vendors to accelerate technology development and deployment.  Budget Management: Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring that development milestones are achieved on schedule and within budget.  Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the reactor development process, ensuring that safety, reliability, and performance criteria are met or exceeded.  Innovation and Research: Drive continuous innovation in microreactor technology, including investigating new materials, fuel types, and coolant systems that enhance the performance and safety of reactors.  Market and Technology Analysis: Stay current with advancements in nuclear technology, market trends, and competitor developments to ensure the company's microreactor products remain cutting-edge and competitive. Qualifications:  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (Ph.D. preferred).  Minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear reactor development, with a strong focus on small modular reactors (SMRs) or microreactors.  Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams and projects, ideally in a startup or fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.  In-depth knowledge of reactor design, fuel cycles, thermal management, materials science, and safety systems for nuclear reactors.  Familiarity with relevant nuclear regulatory frameworks and the licensing process, particularly in the U.S. and/or international markets.  Proven experience managing large-scale, complex development projects from concept to commercialization.  Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.  Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additional Beneficial Skills:  Experience with advanced materials, such as high-temperature alloys or molten salt coolants.  Familiarity with military and defense standards.  Prior experience working with microreactor technologies for remote locations, industrial applications, or maritime environments.  Knowledge of global nuclear energy trends, markets, and key industry players.
