Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations About Prevent Cancer Foundation The Prevent Cancer Foundation is the only U.S.-based nonprofit organization solely dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection. Founded in 1985, the Foundation is committed to empowering people to stay ahead of cancer through prevention and early deduction, carrying out its work in research, education, outreach, and advocacy. Position Summary The Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations is a key member of a productive team of fundraising professionals working together to raise significant dollars to support the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s mission and operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Development, the Senior Director will work in partnership to set and implement annual fundraising strategies, especially surrounding corporate and foundation relations work. The Senior Director will oversee all corporate and foundation relation activities, including management of a portfolio of existing relationships and the research and engagement strategy for new funders. This position also oversees the application process and compliance with charity watchdog groups and leads the planned giving program. The successful candidate will be analytical and creative, collaborate well with a passionate and fun staff, and coordinate and manage multiple projects on deadlines. Position Duties and Responsibilities Primary responsibility for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporations and foundations. Designing, implementing and managing a comprehensive proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation giving including corporate sponsorship for Foundation events and signature programs. Proactively seeking opportunities to generate new proposals based upon foundation and corporate guidelines and interests. Taking the lead with key staff to develop new approaches to foundations and corporations and coordinate these contacts to initiate the cultivation/fundraising process. Identifying, researching, and developing cultivation and partnership strategies for emerging corporate and foundation prospects as well as cause marketing and other innovative partnerships. Cultivating and maintaining relations and strong communication ties with existing donors and prospects. Managing foundation and corporate giving including grant writing and grant reporting. Write grant proposals and/or online grant submissions, and letters of intent to corporate and foundation prospects to secure funding for Foundation programs and special events. Responsibility shall include verification of compliance with terms of grant and such reporting as may be required. Overseeing the application process and compliance with Charity Watchdog groups. Analyzing fundraising data and preparing reports as needed. Developing a comprehensive understanding of the Foundation’s research, educational and community outreach programs to effectively relate Foundations mission and funding needs. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with program staff in order to obtain information to craft funding proposals, updates, and compliance reports. Providing input to project and creating annual revenue forecast. Closely track revenue budget. Working within the donor database to record actions, update records, and track grants. Compiling and maintaining current, accurate information about corporate and foundation donors and prospects utilizing the Raiser’s Edge software. Maintaining a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives, creating moves management plans, monitoring proposal deadlines, submissions and reporting due dates. Representing the foundation to outside groups at speaking engagements. Oversight and management of workplace giving programs. Supervise staff focused on corporate and foundation relations, currently one position. Travel as needed 15-25% of the time. Other development activities as directed. Candidate Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree. Minimum of 5-6 years related experience in fundraising and grant writing. Prior experience in the health care field preferred. Strong background in building corporate relations and networking in a non-profit setting. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with Raisers Edge a plus. Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to relate to and motivate a diverse range of people, exercise cultural competence and inclusion, and accept direction and constructive feedback. Motivated self-starter able to work independently in the execution of his or her responsibilities while collaborating with other people and organizations with the ability to demonstrate initiative and a positive attitude. Salary Range $105,000 - $120,000 Work Location This is a hybrid opportunity with 3 days in the office. Work must be performed in the DMV area.
