Job Title: Electrical Engineer (MEP) Location: Houston, Texas Industry: MEP Engineering Design Firm Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer / Designer to join our team in Houston, Texas. As an integral member of our MEP firm, the Electrical Engineer will design and develop building electrical and lighting systems for a wide range of commercial projects. This role involves preparing construction plans, performing electrical load calculations, ensuring compliance with codes, specifying and sizing electrical equipment, and producing comprehensive design documents. Key Responsibilities: - Design electrical systems for commercial and other building types, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes. - Prepare construction drawings and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit software, and ensure accuracy and quality. - Perform electrical load calculations and specify, size, and layout electrical equipment. - Create project deliverables, including calculations, technical specifications, and design documentation. - Review project requirements, code compliance, and provide recommendations for improvements. - Collaborate with other engineers and designers on multi-disciplinary MEP projects. - Manage multiple assignments and deadlines efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. - Provide support during the construction phase, including responding to RFIs (Requests for Information) and reviewing submittals. - Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical field. - A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in electrical design, specifically for commercial building projects. - Solid understanding of building systems and MEP coordination. - Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for electrical system design. - Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant codes and standards. - Ability to perform electrical load calculations and size electrical components. - Experience with healthcare or similar complex building types is preferred. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) for documentation and reporting. - Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. - Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
