CNC Machinist - Second Shift

Job Summary: As a CNC Machinist you will be responsible for setting up, editing, and proving out part programs on various CNC machines. The role requires a strong understanding of machining techniques, machine code interpretation, and the use of both traditional and advanced inspection tools. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area, performing machine maintenance, and recording production data accurately. This position reports directly to the Production Leader and contributes to achieving the team’s production and quality goals. This position will work second shift with standard working hours of 2:45pm-12:45am Monday – Thursday. Essential Responsibilities: • Set up, prove out and edit new part programs and existing part programs on various CNC machines • Read, interpret and edit machine code • Calculate and adjust tool speeds and feeds to match machining conditions • Use cutting tools; know their application, various grades and designations • Use traditional inspection tools to verify part dimensions • Use CMMs, surface measuring equipment and optical inspection equipment to verify part dimensions • Read and interpret part prints and Geometric Tolerancing • Maintain machine fluid levels to ensure proper machine performance and inform maintenance, area leads, and/or management of any necessary machine maintenance beyond basic care • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to maintenance plans and established procedures • Change out chip barrels/tubs when full or when material changes between jobs and identify waste materials/machined chips with proper ID tags • Punch in and out of operations accurately • Record completed quantities and scrap accurately on traveler, on in-progress documentation and in JobBOSS (each entry should be identical) o In-progress documentation includes, but is not limited to scrap tags, inspection reports, 1st piece, WIP cards, etc. • Perform each operation within estimated times • Be able to perform all operations on skills matrix within assigned cell • Produce parts and assemblies to quality specifications • Complete all secondary operations to Aztalan workmanship standards • Maintain a positive and professional work environment and treat all colleagues, leadership, customers, etc. with respect • Support continuous improvement efforts • Comply with all company safety regulations • Other duties may be assigned Qualifications: • Must have in-depth experience gained by schooling, training or on-the-job experience necessary to operate machining centers, vertical mills, single and twin spindle lathes • Must be able to use standard shop math and trigonometric functions • Must have sufficient computer skills to operate computerized controls with pre-programmed software systems • Must be capable of using traditional inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators), surface plate inspection methods (using gauge blocks, indicators, sine bars), and basic CMM use • Must have solid problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills • Must be very detail oriented • High School diploma or equivalent, required • Must have valid Driver’s License • 5 years of CNC Machinist experience or equivalent education/training and experience, preferred What We Offer: .
