Field Service Technician

Our client is looking for a Field Service Technician responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on equipment, as well as supporting project start-up installations at client locations across the US and Canada. The role includes providing in-house repair services and offering customers an innovation space to learn and test their formulas on the equipment. Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, diagnose problems, and repair or replace defective parts to ensure equipment functionality. Troubleshooting: Identify issues quickly and implement effective solutions for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems. Installation and Setup: Install and configure equipment according to specifications. Customer Support: Train and support customer in-house technicians on effective equipment use and routine maintenance. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and hours worked. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work complies with company policies and safety standards. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required. Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel to client sites a minimum of 50%. Travel is primarily by automobile, with some domestic and international air travel required. Skills and Abilities (Required): Highly driven and self-disciplined, capable of working independently and managing tight deadlines. Comfortable working in an industrial production environment and willing to work overtime when necessary. Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Experience: At least 3 years in a technical field, working with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment. Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of machinery, ideally in the food, beverage, or packaging industry, with proficiency in electrical and mechanical skills. Ability to read diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering specifications. Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Physical Requirements: Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment (occasionally over 50 lbs.). Driver’s License: Required: current valid driver’s license with a clean driving history. Experience (Preferred): Certificate or degree in a technical field such as electronics, engineering, or similar technology from a trade school, technical school, college, or military technical school. Previous experience with food manufacturing equipment. Working knowledge of servo drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), or PLCs is a plus. Compensation and Rewards: Competitive wages and a profit-sharing plan. 15 days of PTO in the first year. Double pay for Sunday work and 1.5x pay on Saturdays.
