Job Title: Early Childhood Educator Location: Richmond, VA- 23298 Permanent Hire Job Description The Child Care Teacher utilizes the Reggio Emilia educational approach to plan, develop, and implement child-centered, creative, and adaptive lesson plans. They create a safe, secure, and engaging environment for children aged six weeks to six years. As part of a collaborative teaching team, the Child Care Teacher fosters children’s self-esteem and supports their overall growth and development. By making learning a fun and exploratory process, the teacher encourages children to reach their full potential. The role involves effective and respectful communication with parents and team members, providing support to parents in achieving their parenting goals. Key Responsibilities: - Attend to the needs of children in the classroom. - Design, develop, and execute lesson plans tailored to the assigned classroom. - Document children’s daily activities and progress, preparing detailed reports for parents. - Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free classroom environment that adheres to infection control standards. - Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain thorough documentation of children’s development and activities. - Supervise teacher aides and volunteers within their assigned classroom or center-wide, as needed. Additional Requirements: - Be available for rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends. - Prepare classrooms and materials for activities during weekdays, weekends, and evenings. - Ensure classrooms are aesthetically pleasing, safe, and ready for use by the next group. - Perform safety reviews for both indoor and outdoor areas. - Develop lesson plans for the week and assigned weekends. Age Group Served: Primarily pediatric, with some adult engagement as needed. Physical and Mental Demands: - Physical: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, frequent bending, climbing stairs or ladders. - Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to think creatively and adapt to change. - Emotional: Capable of handling a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent customer interactions and multitasking. Candidate Requirements: - A minimum of 1 years of professional experience in education. - A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or CDA certification. - Passionate, kind, and aligned with the Reggio Emilia approach, emphasizing positive reinforcement.
