We are urgently hiring a Bankruptcy Paralegal for a boutique law firm in Columbia, SC that practices Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation. If you are an Energetic, Smart, and Empathetic bankruptcy professional, please apply Sample Responsibilities of the Creditors’ Rights/Bankruptcy Paralegal Answering phones, greeting clients, and constant communication with bankruptcy clients regarding the preparation and continuation of their case Understand the consumer bankruptcy process including all steps of Chapter 7, 9, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases Assist attorneys in the preparation of bankruptcy filings, including petitions, schedules, and statements Confirmations, MTD, MFR, and other bankruptcy-related responsibilities Obtain documents and information from clients Conduct legal research with LexisNexis and investigations as needed and directed. Responsible for docketing, calendaring, drafting pleadings and motions, discovery, and other litigation-related documents in State and Federal Court. Handle all facets of bankruptcy cases including client contact and attorney support. Monitoring bankruptcy dockets and email notifications Communicate with Bankruptcy Court and case trustee staff Organize and maintain client files including physical files and those in the electronic case management system Consistently and meticulously record and store client information Utilize legal billing software Support litigation matters by preparing necessary documents and evidence for court proceedings Minimum and Additional Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required 2 years of Bankruptcy Paralegal experience in a law firm Consumer bankruptcy experience preferred Chapter 11, reorganization and/or restructuring experience preferred Strong understanding of Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 (including Subchapter V) bankruptcy procedures. Recent Bankruptcy experience is required Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, and other legal software Proficiency in CM/ECF Filing Working knowledge of State and Federal court systems and the ability to understand and follow Local, State, and Federal Rules of court Detail oriented Competitive pay rate based on experience and qualifications.
