AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: Director of Cyber Defense is responsible for developing and implementing security strategies, protocols, and procedures to ensure the safety of an organization's information assets and will directly report to AMD's Chief Information Security officer. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate will be leading a highly technical teams responsible for Threat Detection and Response, Threat Intelligence, Detection Engineering, Insider Threat, Vulnerability Management and staying up to date with the latest security trends and technology advancements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement a comprehensive Cyber Defense strategy aligned with organizational goals. Design, implement and oversee advanced detection and response capabilities to mitigate risks and enhance the security posture. Evaluate and implement advanced analytics, machine learning, behavioral anomaly detection techniques to improve threat detection capabilities. Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to contain and remediate security incidents. Oversee and mature a threat intelligence program to identify, analyze, and respond to emerging threats. Manage and mature enterprise vulnerability management program and strategy Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security measures are integrated into all aspects of the organization. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of security analysts, engineers, and threat intelligence specialists. Develop and refine incident response plans and playbooks and conduct post-incident reviews. Train and supervise security team members, including hiring, performance evaluation, and professional development. Coordinate with law enforcement and other security agencies as needed. Stay up to date with the latest security trends and technology advancements. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Extensive experience in security operations, threat intelligence, incident response, vulnerability management and detection engineering. Strong understanding of information security concepts, protocols, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Strong understanding of security technologies, frameworks, and methodologies. Expertise in threat intelligence frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, Diamond Model) and incident response processes. Proficient in security monitoring tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS) and forensic analysis tools. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor's or Master's degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CISSP or SANS are preferred. LOCATION: Austin, TX LI-MF2 LI-HYBRID At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
