Job Overview: The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity of our client's organization by maintaining accurate and timely accounting records for two of the nonprofit's entities. This position is responsible for overseeing financial transactions, performing month-end close, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports to support the organization's mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services to patients of all ages and abilities. Key Responsibilities: Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. Analyze financial data and trends to identify variances in expenses and revenue. Record and reconcile cash receipts, accounts payable, and payroll transactions. Ensure accurate application of debits and credits to general ledger accounts. Prepare financial reports and assist with budget analysis for management review. Maintain accurate financial records for assigned entities. Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries. Use Excel to develop formulas for reconciliations and financial analyses. Collaborate with internal teams to address discrepancies and enhance processes. Requirements Include: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred but not required. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment. Knowledge of month-end close processes, reconciliations, and cash receipts. Experience with accounts payable, payroll, and financial analysis. Skills: Proficiency in general ledger accounting, debits, and credits. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including creating formulas for financial analysis. Familiarity with accounting software (training provided if needed). Certifications: CPA not required but a plus. Knowledge: Understanding of nonprofit accounting principles is advantageous. Key Competencies: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to organizational goals.
