Certification Details BLS ACLS (due to High Risk OB) NRP Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (preferred) STABLE (preferred) PALS (preferred, considering potential neonatal emergency scenarios) Job Requirements 13-week contract Experience with Labor, Pre Term Labor, Pre-eclampsia, Substance Use Disorders, Hyperemeis Gravidum, Pyelonephritis, Gestational Diabetes, Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn Experience with Couplet Care Ability to titrate drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Oxytocin, Epidurals, Magnesium Sulfate Familiarity with Vents and Nasal bubble CPAP; infants on vents are transferred after stabilization Schedule Information Mandatory call: 4 shifts a month (4 hours each) Weekend Requirement: Every other Holiday Requirement: 1 major, 1 minor, 1 difficult to staff Unit/Department specific orientation: 1 day hospital orientation, 1 shift orientation on unit Unit Specific Information of L&D Beds: 12, 2 LDRP, Antepartum & GYN of OR Suites: 1 of triage beds: 2 of Postpartum beds: As mentioned in L&D Beds of births per day, per year: 800 per year Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Insulin, Oxytocin, Epidurals, Magnesium Sulfate Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? Yes, both CNAs and CTAs OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? Family Practice Residents available 24/7, High Risk OB on call 24/7, Neonatology via consultation in Medford and Portland RT Equipment: Vents and Nasal bubble CPAP, Vented infants are transferred to tertiary care facility after stabilization Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Yes. Monitor Techs are located in an eMCU. RNs do not read the strips but can. EFM System: Obix Weekend Requirement: Every Other Holiday Requirement: 1 major, 1 minor, 1 difficult to staff Is there a call or standby requirement? No, see shifts and scheduling above Floating Requirements: No Scrub Color/Dress code: Hospital provided Additional Details Housing is very difficult with pets; a special housing finds prior to placement required Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines OB/Neonatologist on call 24/7; Neonatology via consultation in Medford and Portland
