Job Summary The IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering IT projects on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role involves managing resources, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that project objectives are met. The IT Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network engineers, and business analysts, to ensure the successful implementation of IT initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals. Key Duties Key Responsibilities: Project Planning and Initiation: Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and senior management. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Establish project governance structures, including project charters, steering committees, and stakeholder communication plans. Project Execution and Monitoring: Lead project teams, ensuring that all members understand their roles and responsibilities. Monitor project progress, manage scope, schedule, and budget to ensure that project milestones are met. Use project management tools and techniques to track and report on project status, risks, and issues. Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, ensuring clear and timely updates to stakeholders. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, resolve issues, and ensure project alignment with business objectives. Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and third-party service providers involved in the project. Risk Management and Problem-Solving: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed. Proactively address project challenges and obstacles, ensuring that issues are resolved quickly and effectively. Escalate critical issues to senior management when necessary, providing clear recommendations for resolution. Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements. Conduct regular project reviews, audits, and testing to verify that objectives are being met and that project outcomes are sustainable. Implement best practices in project management, including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies as appropriate. Resource Management: Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and software tools. Ensure that project team members have the necessary training and support to complete their tasks effectively. Manage project budgets, ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently and that cost overruns are minimized. Change Management: Develop and implement change management plans to ensure smooth adoption of new systems, processes, or technologies. Engage with end-users and stakeholders to facilitate training, communication, and support during the transition phase. Monitor post-implementation performance, addressing any issues or feedback from users. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, risk logs, and change requests. Prepare and present regular project updates to senior management and other stakeholders. Ensure that all project documentation is stored and archived according to organizational policies. Continuous Improvement: Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement. Share best practices and insights with the broader IT and project management communities within the organization. Continuously improve project management processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Other Duties: Office environment / home office with occasional travel to other sites as required. Ability to sit and work on computer monitor for extended periods of time. May require working outside regular hours to meet project deadlines or address critical issues. Qualifications Minimum Education or Equivalent Experience Required/Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. 5-7 years of experience in IT project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT projects. Competencies Required or preferred: Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Asana). Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Scrum Master) is highly desirable. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering results. Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources in a fast-paced IT environment. Familiarity with IT infrastructure, software development, cloud computing, and cybersecurity principles is a plus.
