The Tax Director will oversee all tax-related activities within Visual Comfort & Co, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws, optimizing tax positions, and minimizing tax liabilities. This senior leadership role requires a deep understanding of tax regulations, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization. Responsibilities: Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including sales tax, income tax, property tax, and international tax obligations. Tax Planning: Identify and execute tax planning opportunities to optimize the company's tax position and minimize liabilities. Tax Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that align with the company's business objectives and support its growth. Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards. Tax Audits: Manage tax audits and disputes with tax authorities, ensuring timely and favorable resolutions. Risk Management: Identify potential tax risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company. Mergers and Acquisitions: Provide tax due diligence and structuring advice for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions. Transfer Pricing: Develop and implement transfer pricing policies and documentation to ensure compliance with international tax regulations and audit compliance. Collaboration: Work closely with the finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions and processes. External Relationships: Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Advanced degree in Taxation, CPA or JD preferred. Prior experience must include at least 10 years of corporate tax experience with a focus on tax accounting and leadership, preferably within the manufacturing and/or retail industry. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations. Extensive and deep knowledge of US GAAP tax accounting roles as well as SOX 404. Strong ASC 740 background and skill set. Experience with JD Edwards and Avalara AvaTax a plus. Ability to leverage prior experience to identify issues, actively engage in solution management, and interface with a variety of tax and non-tax professionals Strong experience with tax planning, compliance, and financial reporting. Proven ability to manage complex tax issues and lead tax audits. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. High ethical standards and integrity. Highly disciplined with the ability to work under strict deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
