Salary : $33,800.00 Annually Location : Fort Pierce, FL Job Type: Full time non-exempt Job Number: 607 Department: Appeals Opening Date: 09/03/2024 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Description The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include a broad range of clerical duties relating to appeals as well as courtroom duties. Maintaining confidentiality and the ability to keep emotions under control are essential to this position. Examples of Duties Prepare cases and materials for trials, evidentiary hearings, and other court proceedings. Attend court hearings and magistrate proceedings. Administer oaths. Perform administrative and clerical duties during proceedings. Docket paperwork received throughout the proceedings, including verdicts. Completes all necessary paperwork resulting from court hearings. Records actions in court records. Accepts, exhibits, and prepares exhibit list. Secures custody, prepares, transfers, and delivers evidence to the evidence department. Ability to work after normal office hours with little or no notice based on Judicial needs. Create and process new cases in case maintenance system. Process documents and orders; copy, certify, and distribute to required parties. Check files and paperwork to determine if all needed documents are ready for court. Maintain case files to ensure accuracy of information. Assist the public and other agencies with information concerning criminal cases provided/stored by the Clerk's office via phone and email. Assist with all aspects within the Criminal Department such as: consolidations, transfers, processing, various types of warrants, generating and sending court notices, redactions of confidential information and filing. Support organizational goals and values. Any additional duties that may be assigned. Typical Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Supplemental Information Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other deputy clerk professionals within the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated competence to handle a variety of activities with attention to detail and quality. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and tactfulness. Ability to keep abreast of Florida Sunshine Laws and Administrative Orders that affect public records information practices and recommend necessary changes. Ability to perform despite frequent interruptions or distractions. Preferred: Knowledge of court files, positioning of documents in the file, and what each document is. Prepare Judgments & Sentences, DOC Commitments, County Jail Commitments, and process. Knowledge of court decorum and procedures.
