Location: Richmond, VA (on-site only) Any manufacturing or engineering experience preferred As a Material Buyer/Planner, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and resources for efficient production. This role involves procurement responsibilities, strategic sourcing, and production planning to optimize inventory levels and meet production goals. Responsibilities: Procurement for Modular Production Source and procure materials, components, and services required for manufacturing operations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain. Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost-effectiveness and quality standards. Inventory Management: Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries to support production schedules. Conduct regular inventory assessments to identify excess or obsolete materials and implement corrective actions. Production Planning: Collaborate with production and master scheduling teams to create production plans aligned with demand forecasts. Ensure that materials are available in the right quantities and at the right time to meet production targets. Adjust production plans based on changes in demand, production capabilities, and supply chain disruptions. Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure open communication and address any issues promptly. Evaluate supplier performance, conduct supplier audits, and drive continuous improvement in supplier capabilities. Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions. Stay informed about market trends, supplier capabilities, and geopolitical factors that may impact the supply chain. Data Analysis: Utilize data and analytics to assess the efficiency of procurement processes, identify cost-saving opportunities, and improve overall supply chain performance. Generate reports and present key performance indicators related to procurement and planning activities. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies in all procurement and planning activities. Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact supply chain. Continuous Improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement and planning processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field with 2 years of experience. Proven experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and production planning within a manufacturing environment. Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships. Proficiency in using ERP systems and other relevant planning tools. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards. Abilities: Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time. Sitting for extended periods of time. Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction. Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
