City Heights CDC is looking for an experienced Communications Manager to lead our communications efforts and increase awareness of our mission and programs. This role focuses on creating clear and consistent messaging, managing content, public relations, social media, and internal communications. The Communications Manager will help strengthen connections with the community and stakeholders, playing an important role in advancing our mission and supporting the impact of our work. Responsibilities: Develop and implement a communications strategy that aligns with CHCDC's goals while addressing key challenges. Provide supervision and mentorship to marketing staff, fostering their professional growth through coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels and materials. Manage and grow CHCDC's social media presence by overseeing the creation of engaging content, expanding community outreach, and monitoring analytics to inform strategies and improve engagement. Guide the production of videos, graphics, and other multimedia content to support storytelling and branding efforts. Oversee the creation of collateral such as annual reports, press releases, blog posts, newsletters, email campaigns, and website updates. Serve as the main point of contact for media inquiries while building and maintaining relationships with local media, influencers, partner organizations, and sponsors to amplify CHCDC's message. Collaborate with program teams to showcase the impact of CHCDC's initiatives through storytelling, develop program campaigns, and support project rollouts. Coordinate public relations efforts and support event promotion, including CHCDC's annual Street Food Fest and other signature events, by collaborating with PR for media engagement and developing talking points for key staff. Stay informed about industry trends and innovative communication tools to enhance CHCDC's outreach and engagement. Ensure communication materials are inclusive and accessible to diverse audiences. Develop and oversee media training opportunities and communication best practices for staff and board members to ensure effective public engagement. Manage internal communications, ensuring staff stay informed and engaged. Represent CHCDC at community and organizational events. Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications: Commitment to CHCDC's mission, vision, and values. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably within a nonprofit or community development setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas into clear, engaging, and actionable messages. Proven experience managing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), digital marketing tools (e.g., ConstantContact, Google Analytics), and graphic design platforms (e.g., Canva, SquareSpace). Media relations experience, including building relationships with journalists, influencers, and community partners to amplify CHCDC's message. Strong understanding of PR strategies, including event promotion, crisis communication, and campaign development. Proven project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects, manage priorities, and meet deadlines effectively. Strong organizational and time management skills to balance competing priorities. Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving and campaign development. Familiarity with community development, housing, or economic development, and how communications can support these areas. Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Bilingual ability is a plus. Hours and Compensation 40 hours per week, exempt Annual starting salary range: $66,000-$80,000 depending on experience.
