The qualified candidate will diagnose, repair, inspect and maintain motorized and mechanical equipment related to construction, highway maintenance, grounds, and automotive equipment of all types and in varied locations. Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform Virginia State Inspections Diagnose vehicle, equipment or asset failures Information processing and paperwork Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, equipment or assets according to PM schedule and guidelines Design, fabricate, modify, and weld components to repair, rebuild, or replace parts. Prepare equipment for emergency operations. Perform repair work Minimum Qualifications Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to operate various types of light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to obtain Virginia State Inspection License within 12 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication operations. Ability to read, comprehend service and equipment repair manuals, gauges and testing devices. Ability to independently perform major repairs and maintenance on a variety of diesel and gasoline trucks and equipment. Safety shoes required. Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment. Skill in the use of computers, hand and power tools and advanced electronic and computerized diagnostic equipment. Knowledge of the diagnosis, repair, maintenance of automotive, construction and maintenance equipment. Ability to maintain accurate records and reports. Additional Considerations A combination of training, experience, or education in Automative Repair, Maintenance or related field desired. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications. Experience using cutting and welding equipment. Virginia State Inspection License - Class A Experience repairing and maintaining a variety of automotive and construction equipment.
