Louisville, KY / Part-Time ABOUT FRANCISCAN KITCHEN The Franciscan Kitchen was founded in 1980 by Friar Jim Fields. While serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees on Okinawa during World War II, he saw poor people searching in the garbage for food. That experience affected him for the rest of his life. Today, the work of feeding the hungry continues through the dedication and hard work of a staff of 6 and more than 200 regular volunteers. The need to support the community through these efforts continues to grow. Currently, Franciscan Kitchen serves between 600-800 meals each day at 748 South Preston Street in Louisville, KY. In the tradition of St. Francis, which recognizes we are all brothers and sisters, we are dedicated to providing for the nourishment of God's family. We will maintain an environment of trust and fellowship to build mutual respect and beneficial relationships with our guests, co-workers, suppliers and community. These efforts will strengthen our organization and enable us to provide a much-needed service to our community. THE OPPORTUNITY Franciscan Kitchen is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to promote the Franciscan vision of care for the needy and hungry in our community. This individual will be stepping into a strong team of dedicated employees and will get to work with an engaged Board along with a strong set of volunteers. They will oversee all fundraising functions including grants, foundation & corporate relations, donor/family relations, fund development planning, stewardship, and event planning & execution. They will also help set the strategic vision for operations and communications. This leadership position is expected to work 25-30 hours/week and be in the office, except when working with donors or events. This position will report to the Board's Executive Committee. If you're ready to lead a strong organization with fundraising/development, communications, and operations efforts, and truly impact thousands of lives by assisting the hungry and needy in our community, then this role is for you KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising Set strategic vision for the expansion of fundraising support, focusing on individual/family gifts, corporate gifts, grants, and events. Work with Advancement Coordinator and Board to steward current donors (annual and major) and develop new relationships with prospective donors/supporters. Support annual fundraising event to grow individual and corporate support. Develop and execute targeted solicitations (i.e. churches, corporations, grants, etc.). Manage outreach, solicitations, follow-up, and stewardship with all donors. Ensure all fundraising activities, events, and stewardship actions are tracked and databased. Leadership & Staff Management Lead the creation and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans in conjunction with the Board's Executive Committee. Promote and communicate Franciscan Kitchen's urgent and vitally important mission to staff, donors, volunteers, and community partners. Manage all staff members; defining roles, overseeing performance, providing support/training where needed, completing annual performance reviews, and recommending salary increases. Actively recruit Board Members. Communications Expand community presence and develop relationships with local leaders and other nonprofits serving the Smoketown neighborhood in collaboration with the Advancement Coordinator. Communicate with the Executive Committee on issues involving the Franciscan Kitchen. Create a media/social media/communications plan to engage external audiences including the media. Operations Collaborate with Director of Kitchen Operations to oversee the daily operation of the Franciscan Kitchen. Responsible for oversight of all finances and budgeting; work closely with Business Manager and develop clear understanding of all financial goals and day-to-day operations. Interact with clients of Franciscan Kitchen. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or related field Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising/development in the nonprofit sector Demonstrated success in grant writing/management, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Experience with annual giving, major giving, and events Knowledge of donor research tools and techniques Experience working with volunteers and board members Dedicated to regulatory compliance and ethical standards in business and fundraising Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors and stakeholders Excellent organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in fundraising software and databases, as well as Microsoft Office Suite Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values Basic facility and maintenance knowledge preferred Nurtures an inclusive workplace valuing diversity and individual differences Must be a practicing Catholic COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Franciscan Kitchen is prepared to offer a salary in the range of $37-42/hour (which equates to an annual range of $48,000-$54,000), commensurate with experience. A 401k plan, paid Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Days are available. No medical benefits are included.
