Position: Community Education Coordinator Reports to: Regional Director, Central and Southern Oregon Salary: Starting at $50,000/yr About Pacific Refugee Support Group Pacific Refugee Support Group provides refugees and asylum seekers newly arriving in the Pacific Northwest the social capital necessary to transition into a successful life in the U.S. through our Community Wellness, Community Aid, and Community Education programs. Each of these areas is strengthened by the volunteer and partner organizations fostered through our focus on Community Connection. Community Connections - Perhaps the most essential support PRSG provides is connecting the newest members of our community to more established individuals – not only our own staff, but volunteers and members of other organizations. Community Legal Services - Our newest pillar - The Community Legal Clinic (CLC) assists in bridging the fundamental gaps in Oregon’s immigration legal landscape by providing low-barrier legal support to migrants through Oregon’s burgeoning Universal Representation program. Community Wellness - To increase health awareness and improve overall health and quality of life of the refugee community, our Community Wellness program conducts regular in-home visits, health workshops, and special projects such as our youth summer camp. Community Education - Our Community Education offers support services to the refugee community to increase access to each individual’s unique education and career goals, with a primary focus on youth advocacy and education, English language skills, digital literacy, and professional certification. Community Aid - Our Community Aid focuses on direct assistance to the most vulnerable members of the refugee community through providing emergency financial funds, monthly goods donation bags, and economic mobility opportunities. Overview of Job Opportunity PRSG seeks a full-time, results-oriented professional interested in supporting the mission, vision, and ongoing development of a growing organization. Reporting to the Regional Director, the Education Coordinator will coordinate programming and projects falling under PRSG’s Community Education program area, including academic enrichment and achievement for k-12 youth, college success, and career pathways for adults. Essential Functions Coordination and monitoring of tutors for adult and K-12 refugee clients Develop and implement programs related to adult education, career pathways, and vocational training Determine tutor needs and develop program plans in partnership with volunteers and clients Conduct outreach with families and provide regular check-ins on learning goals Develop training orientations for new tutors, clients and students Develop assessments to measure impact and quality of programs Develop collaborative partnerships with school districts and teachers to provide consistency between in-home tutoring, workshops, and classroom learning Design and conduct college prep workshops and develop recruitment strategies to increase enrollment Assist with other organizational duties as needed Preferred Competencies and Skills Training or experience working with people who have been through trauma Fluency in a language other than English Experience with Program Design and implementation Requirements Complete a criminal background check (a criminal record is not automatically disqualifying) Possess current driver’s license Able to travel throughout the service area on a regular basis, as needed Willingness and ability to live in reasonable proximity to PRSG’s Central and Southern Oregon office in downtown Eugene, OR Benefits This is a full-time, exempt position. Benefits include: 120 hours of PTO/yr, 18 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, and a 75% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits plan. Mileage will be reimbursed at the federal GSA rate. Work Environment The work may be performed remotely, at PRSG’s office, at the homes of clients and in the community as needed. There will be times where in-person office meetings are required. Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required. Moderate lifting and physical moving of items will occasionally be required in a variety of settings.
