Position: Superintendent Reports to: Project Manager/Construction Manager A Superintendent is a key role in the construction industry, overseeing concrete/construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Below is a detailed position description for a Superintendent: Job Summary: The Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating all concrete/construction-related activities on construction sites. This includes managing the work of concrete crews, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and coordinating with other trades and project stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to solve problems on the fly. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Planning and Coordination: Review project blueprints, specifications, and construction plans. Develop detailed work plans and schedules for concrete/construction (TYP) activities. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. 2. On-Site Supervision: Oversee daily operations of concrete crews. Ensure work is performed safely and to the highest quality standards. Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed. 3. Quality Control: Inspect work for compliance with specifications and industry standards. Identify and address any issues or defects in concrete work. Ensure proper curing and finishing techniques are used. 4. Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks. Address and rectify any unsafe conditions or practices. 4. Resource Management: Manage labor, equipment, and materials efficiently. Coordinate deliveries of concrete and related materials. Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed. 5. Communication and Documentation: Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders. Document daily activities, progress, and any issues encountered. Prepare and submit reports to project managers. 7. Problem Solving: Quickly address and resolve any issues that arise on-site. Adapt plans and schedules to mitigate delays or disruptions. Provide technical guidance and support to crew members. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; degree in construction management or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Skills: Strong understanding of concrete construction techniques and materials. Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and specifications. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices. Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification preferred; ACI (American Concrete Institute) certification is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
