Airswift is looking for a Packaging Engineer to work with a major oil and gas company in Indianola, PA The contract position will be responsible for new and innovative packaging development for Medical Device Sterile Disposable portfolio for Radiology business. The role will be accountable for various engineering deliverables during new product R&D. The role will focus on SD product packaging ideation, customer preference testing, development, and packaging related V&V. The individual will work as a member of a cross functional team that includes design, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and program management. We are looking for a motivated engineer who has knowledge of medical device new product development, design control as well as sound understanding of fundamental of good customer centered design. Major tasks and responsibilities of position Support and/or lead the design, development, and implementation of new sterile disposable packaging designs utilized in radiology and cardiovascular medical procedures. Participate in product ideation, coming up with new and innovative solutions which will satisfy customer needs but also offer more sustainable solutions. Use CAE tools (CAD, FEA, Moldflow, CFD) to develop and analyze packaging designs. Conduct or direct testing in a R&D lab environment to verify concept packaging designs. Provide knowledge of packaging materials, standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.) and manufacturing processes. Create various design history file documentation throughout the packaging development process including technical assessments, test protocols / reports, and various engineering documentation. Create and modify SD packaging designs using CAD software such as Pro Engineer and CREO. CAD models may be 3D printed as required. Drive cost driven design thinking, customer centric solution, and product differentiation. Establish close relationship with to understand present and future packaging capabilities, influence the strategy and own multiple year product roadmap. Help business become sustainability champion. Understand corporate vision, translate it into Radiology product roadmap especially driving sustainability strategy early in the product design for entire Radiology Medical Device portfolio (CT, MR, CV, MI) Works closely with other functions including engineering, quality, procurement, and product supply to ensure project deliverables are properly planned and aligned with broader organizational objectives. Qualifications B.S and 2 years of proven experience in Mechanical, Packaging Engineering or related field. M.S degree preferred. 0 - 3 years of industry experience directly pertaining to packaging / mechanical / plastic engineering roles. Familiarity with disposable product usage, and engineering design to influence packaging Basic familiarity with medical device regulated design control process. Stakeholders analysis skills and ability to work with internal and external customers for product evaluation will be desired. Engineering experience in new product development or product engineering, production engineering knowhow about various manufacturing engineering with Design for Manufacturing solutions Excellent problem-solving skills, creative thinker and interpersonal communication Sound understanding of different regulatory and industry standards and conformance as applicable to medical device development.
