Mission: The Buyer II is essential in driving project success by ensuring that the right materials are sourced, ordered, and delivered on time to meet project needs. This role focuses on reviewing material requisitions, obtaining competitive quotations, and coordinating orders to align with project specifications and deadlines. When standard lead times cannot meet project timelines, the Buyer II proactively facilitates alternative sourcing options to support project teams and prevent delays. By minimizing supply risks, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and ensuring accurate documentation, the Buyer II plays a vital role in upholding project continuity, enhancing cost efficiency, and optimizing procurement processes to meet company standards. Key Responsibilities: Adherence to Policies: Adhere to department policy, procedures, and processes regarding material ordering activities and assignments. Material and Equipment Requisition (MER) Log Management: Continuously monitor and update the MER Log throughout the day to prioritize requisitions for immediate ordering. Ensure precise status tracking for each item, from requisition submission to purchase order issuance. This role requires close monitoring of the log to address changing priorities and maintain up-to-date requisition statuses. Daily support is primarily comprised of tactical quick orders (material required in or less than 3 business days) and will work in tandem with the Senior Strategic Sourcing Analyst. Tactical Material Ordering: Proactively secure materials to meet project deadlines. Request quotes and order acknowledgements, confirm specifications, and communicate any potential delays to project teams. Ensure all order details (pricing, quantity, delivery, and quality specifications) are properly documented for clear communication and accurate fulfillment. Escalate conflicting terms and conditions to the Director of Procurement as needed. Work in partnership with Material and Equipment Coordination (MEC) Teams to promote the use of surplus electrical materials. ( Notifications: MER Log and Kojo Procurement Software Solution ). Identify Alternative Sourcing Options: Identify and propose alternative vendors and materials to maintain project timelines and control costs. Facilitate Competitive Bids: Occasionally conduct competitive bid activities, evaluating quotes on TCO factors such as price, lead time, freight terms, material specifications, and vendor performance. Continuous Improvement: Meet department OKRs and champion process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Identify and implement best practices in procurement and material ordering processes. Additional Job Duties: Weekly Check-ins: Conduct weekly meetings or check-ins with Foreman, Superintendents and Project Teams to facilitate feedback on requisition activities. Support Procurement Expeditor : Occasionally provide material expediting support to ensure timely arrivals of necessary materials. Vendor Relations: Cultivate strong vendor relationships, ensure adherence to purchase order obligations, and proactively resolve order discrepancies. Skills, Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Business Management is preferred, but not required. Minimum 10 years of supply chain, procurement, sales, electrical construction or electrical industry (such as supply house) experience preferred, but not required. A working knowledge of electrical construction materials, coupled with the ability to source alternative vendor options is preferred, but not required. 5 years of procurement experience preferred, but not required. Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Pay Range: $65,000 – 100,000 . Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
