Job description Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Superintendent to oversee and manage construction projects within the food products manufacturing and packing plant sector. This role is critical to ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing a team of 10-20 employees across multiple jobs, and ensuring smooth coordination with subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in various construction practices including underground work, flatwork, foundations, equipment setting, plumbing, and carpentry. They should also have proven experience in estimating/bidding jobs, scheduling, and managing tight project timelines. Position: Direct Hire $100K DOE year Atwater- Will be traveling to construction sites Monday- Thursday 5am to 3:30pm must be available for a lot of OT Responsibilities Project Management: Oversee and direct all aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all phases are executed within time, scope, and budget constraints. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in construction, preferably in food product manufacturing or packing plant construction. Proven experience managing teams of 10-20 employees in construction environments. Construction Knowledge: Extensive experience in underground construction, flatwork, foundation work, equipment setting, plumbing, and carpentry. Knowledge of structural steel fabrication, mechanical piping, welding procedures, and AutoCAD is a plus, but not required for the position. Estimating & Bidding Skills: Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate project costs and prepare competitive bids. Strong knowledge of budgeting and cost-control measures. Scheduling & Coordination: Ability to create and manage detailed project schedules, balancing multiple tasks and timelines under tight deadlines. Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address construction challenges and keep projects on track. Certifications & Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Construction Management or related degree preferred. Relevant certifications in construction management, safety, or project management are a plus (e.g., OSHA certification). Physical Demands: Ability to work in an active construction environment, including exposure to various weather conditions and physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights when necessary. Team Leadership: Supervise and manage teams of 10-20 employees, ensuring that all workers are properly trained, motivated, and working efficiently. Ensure a safe and productive work environment. Construction Knowledge: Lead and manage various construction practices including: Underground Work: Excavation, trenching, and utility installations. Flatwork: Concrete slab pouring, finishing, and leveling. Foundations: Laying foundations, including concrete and other base systems. Equipment Setting: Ensuring the proper installation and positioning of heavy machinery and equipment. Plumbing and Carpentry: Oversee plumbing systems and carpentry work as needed. Estimating & Bidding: Prepare accurate estimates and bids for construction projects, working with the estimating team to assess costs, materials, and timeframes. Provide recommendations to management on project feasibility and budget. Scheduling & Coordination: Develop, implement, and manage project schedules to ensure milestones are met. Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure the timely procurement of materials and services. Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials, services, and equipment. Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure quality standards are met. Quality Control & Safety: Ensure all work meets safety regulations and quality standards. Enforce safe work practices and conduct regular safety meetings and inspections. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Resolve construction-related issues on-site, addressing any challenges promptly to avoid delays and cost overruns. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of project progress, expenses, and changes. Provide regular updates to senior management regarding project status.
