Cal Wadsworth Construction is hiring an experienced Estimating Manager to oversee the bidding process for our projects in the Salt Lake and surrounding area. Since 1983, our CWC team has provided quality commercial construction for the following industries in aviation, office, industrial, manufacturing, medical, recreational, retail & restaurant strip centers, and education. We are one of the premier commercial general contractors in the Intermountain Region. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills with a focus on exceeding customer expectations, manage subcontractor’s relationships and prepare bids for future clients. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of three years’ construction estimating experience (Required). Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related commercial construction experience from the field level is more valuable. Proven experience in cost estimating, preferably in related specific commercial construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations. Conducted takeoffs using digital tools and analyzed project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work with proficiency in estimating software like ProEst, PlanSwift, or Bluebeam. Ability to build a construction schedule with Primavera P6 and/or Phoenix software. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities. The estimator shall review construction estimates from subcontractors with supporting documentation. The ability to read construction drawings, understanding technical specifications, cost estimates, vendor/subcontractor quotes, construction scheduling and local labor conditions. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborated with owners, architects, and engineers to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards to refine estimates and value engineering. The estimator will assist the project team in contract negotiations and evaluation of subcontractors’ bids, exclusions and selecting vendors or subcontractors. Prepare estimates of all major and minor construction aspects including overall scope of work, time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. The estimator will respond to requests for explanations of their cost estimates, budget planning and evaluating risks and contingencies.
