The Associate Director – Engineering & Maintenance leads the North American Logistic Operations (NALO) Engineering & Maintenance Team. Responsibilities include all aspects of Facilities, Utilities, Engineering and Maintenance along with the Capital Budget Plan. The position is part of the NALO Lead Team and support Strategic / Business Planning. Key Objectives/Deliverables: Safety: Model safe behaviors within daily work. Provide support to the operational areas to address any safety concerns. Execute projects and activities according to HSE requirements. Regulatory Compliance: Partner with Quality Assurance to assure that all building-related equipment and automation systems meet corporate standards, including, but not limited to drawing management, version management, commissioning, qualification, validation, change management, and system maintenance. Capital Project Management: Manage all aspects of capital projects. Includes identifying user requirements, executing commissioning & qualification activities, budgeting, cost management, and scheduling to meet business and customer expectations. Security: Provide support to the security operations for the Plainfield Distribution Center, including: conformance to security-related engineering standards and technical support for the FSS (Fire and Security Systems). Talent Development: a) ensure everyone has a performance management plan and development plan that aligns with individual objectives, department/functional goals and site initiatives, b) document all aspects of performance including interim reviews, final reviews, compensation decisions, disciplinary actions, training, compliance, etc., c) provide technical coaching, professional mentoring and career counseling, d) partner with Human Resources to resolve personnel issues, e) develop succession management plan for key positions. Engineering representative on key site teams, including: North American Logistics Operations Lead Team, Quality Lead Team, Deviation Review Board and HSE Lead Team. Site representative for global engineering, automation, and maintenance organizations and forums. Alliance Contractor Work Orders: Reviews and approves Alliance Contractor Work Orders on a periodic basis to ensure accuracy and timely payment. Responsible for ensuring data integrity and good documentation practices while performing job tasks. Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent work experience). Strong verbal and written communications skills. This role must effectively communicate with Management, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, HSE, and outside regulatory inspectors. Must provide regular updates, conduct meetings, and produce presentations. Additional Preferences: Strong self-management and organizational skills. Effective at Change Management, Deviation Management, Periodic Reviews, Commissioning & Qualification, Routine Data Monitoring / Reporting. Experience with root cause analysis and problem solving (CAPA). Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to process understanding, problem solving and process improvement. Knowledge of cGMP, SAP, Trackwise (QMS), Metasys (BMS), and GMARS (CMMS). Experience with the principles of lean manufacturing to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Effectively manage and prioritize competing priorities.
