Competitive Base Salary Growth Opportunities About Our Client My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join the finance team in South Jersey. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing costs associated with our food distribution operations, developing and maintaining accurate cost accounting systems, and providing insights that drive profitability and efficiency. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across departments. Job Description Cost Analysis: Analyze product costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses to provide insights into profitability and cost-saving opportunities. Cost Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management, including variance analysis and budget vs. actual comparisons. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory valuation processes, ensuring accurate costing and reporting of stock levels, obsolescence, and waste. Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Process Improvement: Identify and implement cost control measures and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP. Team Leadership: Mentor junior accountants and provide guidance on cost accounting practices and methodologies. Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct special projects and analyses as needed to support strategic decision-making. The Successful Applicant Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the food distribution or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices. Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
