Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Physics, Radiation Safety, or a closely related science. 5 years of experience in health physics or radiation safety, with a focus on environmental health and safety. In-depth knowledge of radiation safety regulations and practices, including NRC, OSHA, and EPA guidelines. Experience with radiation monitoring equipment and dosimetry. Familiarity with laser safety regulations and practices, including ANSI Z136 standards. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex radiation safety concepts to diverse audiences. Proven ability to develop and implement radiation safety training programs. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Plusses: Certified Health Physicist/Laser Safety Officer Daily Responsibilities include: We are seeking an experienced Alternate Radiation Safety Officer (ARSO) with expertise in radiation/laser safety to join our Environmental Health and Safety team in Irvine, CA. The ARSO will ensure compliance with safety regulations, conduct assessments and inspections, and develop safety programs. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in health physics or related fields. Responsibilities include training staff, monitoring exposure levels, investigating incidents, and collaborating with other safety professionals.
