Title: HR Manager/Director - Japanese Bilingual Preferred Location: Torrance (onsite) Salary: $100k120k/year (DOE) Hours: 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm Position Overview They are seeking a dynamic and hands-on HR Manager/Director to join their team in Torrance, CA. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the HR and back-office functions of a company with ambitious plans to expand rapidly. Although a startup, their business is backed by a well-established global parent company, offering stability and resources while maintaining the agility of a startup environment. Key Responsibilities HR Systems and Processes Design and implement HR policies, procedures, and systems from the ground up. Develop and manage employee benefits programs, compensation structures, and compliance initiatives. Handle end-to-end recruitment processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding. Revise an employee handbook. Back-Office Operations Oversee and manage payroll and back-office functions, especially during the initial phase. Ensure all operational needs for the startup phase are met, including administrative and support tasks. Strategic HR Planning Collaborate with leadership to build an organizational structure aligned with growth objectives. Partner with the parent company to integrate resources and align HR practices. Prepare for scaling the workforce as the company expands to multiple locations. Compliance and Employee Relations Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture. Preferred Qualifications Experience : Minimum 5 years of HR management experience in the restaurant industry. Proven track record in payroll management and back-office operations. Experience working in startups or fast-growing environments is highly desirable. Skills : Proficiency in HRIS, payroll systems, and compliance processes. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various operational functions. Ability to speak and understand Japanese is strongly preferred.
