Network and Firewall Operations Specialist 4 month extendable contract Remote - but must be based within driving distance to Columbus Ohio Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Network and Firewall Operations Specialist to join our Network Infrastructure Team. This is an individual contributor role focused on assisting with the operation, management, and administration of network and firewall systems to protect the organization’s technology infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring seamless network operations, building simple Ad-Hoc rules and network changes as needed, and collaborating within a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities: Assist in managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting network and firewall systems, ensuring security and operational integrity. Review and execute firewall requests and rules, including creating ad-hoc firewall rules and network changes. Participate in team and project meetings, providing input on network architecture and security solutions. Work closely with team members to handle LAN/WAN/WLAN, Firewalls, Load Balancers, and VoIP operations. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in networking and cybersecurity. Qualifications: Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in networking and firewall operations. Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with firewalls (Palo Alto preferred). Strong understanding of networking concepts, including routing and switching. Familiarity with networking equipment, such as Cisco and Arista ( highly desired) . Cloud experience, especially with Microsoft Azure (highly desired). Soft Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong collaboration and communication skills. A curious and open-minded approach to problem-solving.
