Job Title: Network Security Engineer (Contract)
Location: 100% Remote (Candidates within driving distance of Columbus, OH, preferred)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our client’s Network Infrastructure Team on a contract basis. This individual will play a key role in assisting with network and firewall operations, management, and administration to protect the organization’s technology infrastructure. The role is primarily project-based, requiring execution of tasks with direction and collaboration within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with network and firewall operations, including reviewing and building firewall rules.
- Manage and execute minor network changes as needs arise.
- Participate in team and project meetings to discuss network and security-related topics.
- Build ad-hoc (simple) rules to support project requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure secure and efficient operation of network infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in large-scale enterprise network and firewall operations.
Technical Skills:
- Strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Experience with Cisco/ Arista Networks , including routing and switching
- Understanding of LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure.
- Cloud experience is a plus (Azure preferred).
Soft Skills:
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Curious, open-minded, and proactive attitude.
What Stands Out:
- Experience with networking equipment like Cisco and Arista.
- Knowledge of firewall technologies such as Palo Alto.
- Cloud infrastructure experience, particularly with Azure.
Additional Details:
- Team Environment: You will be part of a collaborative team that manages LAN/WAN/WLAN, firewalls, load balancers, and VoIP systems.
- Typical Day: Includes team meetings, project discussions, reviewing and building firewall rules, and making minor network changes.
- Interview Process: One round with the hiring manager and the technical lead.
- Timeline: Applications will be reviewed promptly, with hiring expected within 2-4 weeks.
