Safety Manager

Safety Manager Minimum Education Level High school diploma (or equivalent) Minimum Years & Experience Five years of experience providing safety oversight on vertical, tunnel or heavy civil construction type projects. Professional Licenses & Certifications Must at a minimum have an active Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential Cal OSHA 10/30 hour Authorized Trainer within 3 months of appointment and shall be maintained for dura on of assignment American Red Cross CPR/1st Aid instructor May be required to attain NFPA 70e certification and renew every four years Essential Job Duties Ability to: Work with Contractor Safety Team, Inspection Team, Project Management Team, and others in order to ensure assigned projects are implementing effective safety programs. Walk all assigned projects on a regular basis and possibly multiple times daily which can total a few miles a day. Engage with the Safety platform to perform Task Hazard Analysis audits and report safety observations. Meet with Inspectors and other stakeholders regarding safety concerns and follow-up actions taken by the contractor. Review written Safety Plans and verify results of safety performance and compliance in the field on an ongoing basis to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation. Assist the Project/Construction Manager to verify that contractors comply with written documentation requirements including weekly \"\"toolbox\"\" meetings, new employee orientation, daily safety inspection reports, any accident/ incident and related investigation reports, provision of \"\"competent\"\" or authorized persons documentation including training records and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs). Be self-motivated individual who can research pertinent requirements not readily available. Attend Project Progress and Project Safety Committee meetings as directed by the Program Safety Manager to monitor the ongoing safety effort of the Construction Manager and contractor. Attend and participated in Construction Safety Advisory Council Meetings, as directed by the Program Safety Manager. Ability to write clear and effective reports. Attend and participate in the Monthly All-Hands Safety Meeting to discuss general program safety concerns and successes as well as present updates and information on safety regulations and requirements including a monthly training program component on relevant safety subject ma er. Coordinate with management to promote the proactive and behavior-based Safety Program both internally and externally (e.g., National Safety Council, trade and professional organizations, etc.) and to bring positive publicity to the program. Contribute to the advancement of goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders. Ability to multi-task and priori ze competing responsibilities. May be required to start a regular shift at any me of day or night May be required to start a regular work week any day of the week Will be required to conduct Cal OSHA training to LAWA staff and others Will be required to provide CPR/1st Aid Training Will be required to pass the federal background check and obtain a LAWA Badge with RACCI, Customs, and Driver icons Will be required a vehicle that can access the AOA. The position is 100% on site, Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
