Job Overview: Safety Assistant Manager II
The
Safety Assistant Manager IIis responsible for overseeing safety programs across multiple construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The role involves close collaboration with various teams, including contractor safety teams, project managers, and inspectors. The assistant manager will regularly inspect job sites, monitor safety performance, conduct safety audits, and engage in safety training. This position requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with strong organizational, communication, and technical skills to support safety efforts and ensure the health and safety of all personnel on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project teams to implement effective safety programs and perform regular safety inspections. Conduct Task Hazard Analysis audits and report safety observations through TDG Safety platform. Review Safety Plans, verify compliance with safety regulations, and assess safety performance on-site. Assist project managers in verifying contractor compliance with safety documentation, including training records and hazard analyses. Attend and participate in project safety meetings, safety advisory councils, and monthly safety meetings. Promote and support the TDG Safety Program, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to enhance safety standards and visibility. Prepare clear and effective safety reports, presentations, and training materials. Lead and/or coordinate safety training sessions for staff and contractors, including CPR/First Aid and OSHA certifications. Manage competing responsibilities and prioritize safety tasks across multiple projects.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in vertical, tunnel, or heavy civil construction. Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification, or equivalent, may be required. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, with a preference for Cal OSHA 10/30 hour Authorized Trainer or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid instructor certifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and large-scale construction management software (e.g., Prolog, VEO, Procore). Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
Additional Requirements:
Must pass a federal background check and obtain necessary access credentials (badge with RACCI, Customs, and Driver icons). Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and potentially irregular shifts. Willingness to travel to project sites and work in varying conditions. Valid vehicle access to the Air Operations Area (AOA) is required.
