Apply today to join our organizationThe Certified Welding Inspector is responsible for, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:Verification of Materials:Ensure that base materials and consumable welding materials conform to the specified welding standards and specifications.Verify that welding filler metals used are appropriate and as specified for each base material or combination of base materials.Welding Equipment and Procedures:Confirm that the welding equipment used is suitable for the specified welding procedures and has the capability to meet all relevant requirements.Verify that welding procedures are qualified, properly documented, and adhered to during the welding process.Witness or supervise the performance and testing of procedure qualification tests, either personally or by coordinating with external agencies.Observe and monitor welding operations to ensure adherence to the WPS.Check for proper joint preparation, alignment, and fit-up before welding.Verify correct welding parameters (e.g., voltage, amperage, travel speed) are used during welding. Ensure proper preheating, interpass temperature, and post-weld heat treatment as required.Documentation and Qualification:Verify and review documentation related to procedure qualification test results to ensure accuracy and compliance.Confirm that welders, welding operators, and tack welders are qualified according to applicable standards and are authorized to use the specified welding procedures.Verify and review documentation of performance qualification test results for welders and operators.Visual Inspection:Perform visual inspections to ensure that welding meets the requirements of qualified welding procedures and standards.Identify and document any discrepancies or non-conformities and provide recommendations for corrective actions.Compliance and Reporting:Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and company policies related to welding and inspection.Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, including records of inspections, test results, and non-conformities.Ensure traceability of materials and welding processes.Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, welders, and quality assurance personnel, to address any issues related to welding and inspection.Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on inspection findings and recommendations.Continuous Improvement:Stay updated with the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices related to welding and inspection.Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.Pursue continuing education and certifications to maintain CWI credentials.Additional Responsibilities:Provide training and mentorship to other inspectors and trainees on quality standards and inspection techniques.Uphold the highest ethical standards in all inspections, reporting, and interactions.Avoid conflicts of interest and maintain impartiality in inspections.Perform any other inspection-related duties as assigned by the company, which may include specialized inspections or project-specific tasks.QualificationsRequired Qualification(s)High school Diploma or G.E.D.AWS Certified Welding Inspector certificate.Valid U.S. drivers license and able to pass Motor Vehicle History Evaluations.Able to pass an FBI background verification in accordance with Companys Increased Controls program.Capable of passing Companys Drug/Alcohol, Fit for Duty, and Ergonomic Testing policies/procedures; and,Knowledgeable with OSHAs General and Construction safety industries.Preferred Qualification & ExperienceMinimum 5 years of CWI experience with listed project history and references for background screening.Familiar with SMAW, SAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW welding processes.Experience in welding codes such as AME and API 1104.Familiar with basic NDE methods of RT, MT, PT, UT and VT.
