Eikon Therapeutics
Senior Software Engineer, Dynamical Inference
Eikon Therapeutics, Hayward, California
Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets. Position As a Senior Software Engineer, Dynamical Inference, you will interface with biologists, medicinal chemists, microscopists, and optical and automation engineers to design and deploy computational solutions that enable the exploration and quantification of Eikon’s high-content datasets. About You You are an adventurous, passionate, and creative algorithms engineer eager to apply your talents to empower interdisciplinary scientific exploration, inaugurate a radical drug-discovery paradigm, and create novel medicines. You will bring to this challenge enthusiasm, high energy, intellectual curiosity, and scientific rigor. You are excited about being a foundational member of a small but growing team. What You Will Do Using your biology background and algorithms expertise, you will work with scientists to understand the biology they are trying to measure with our proprietary imaging hardware, and design and implement algorithms and analyses to extract and quantify the relevant information from our datasets. You understand how molecular motion informs biology and are excited to empower scientists to use this unique form of information for drug discovery You will move software solutions through the technical lifecycle from proof-of-concept to production, conforming solutions to engineering best practices as these solutions mature You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, developing milestones and deadlines in coordination with the broader company goals, and communicating progress clearly at multiple company venues Qualifications Bachelor's with 5 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in Computational Biology, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Applied Physics, Biophysics, or related field, or a PhD without experience Two or more years of experience writing Python code required; experience with a strongly typed language (e.g. C++) a plus Familiarity with software engineering best practices (version control, testing, etc) Strong foundation in probability, stochastic processes, variational Bayesian approaches, and familiarity with modern machine learning approaches, including graph neural networks Prior experience working with and analyzing scientific datasets, and ability to do so cross-functionally with scientists, required. Experience with super-resolution imaging and/or diffusion-based measurements (e.g., single molecule tracking) strongly desired Familiarity with biology at the introductory college level Excellent verbal and written communication skills Team-oriented, flexible, able to adapt to rapidly evolving goals and challenges Willingness to relocate to the Bay Area (hybrid schedule ok) Enthusiasm for gaining drug discovery experience is essential At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including: 401k plan with company matching Medical (premiums covered by Eikon at 95%), dental and vision insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) Mental health and wellness benefits Weeklong summer and winter holiday shutdowns Generous paid time off and holiday policies Life/AD&D Insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) and optional supplemental employee-paid life/AD&D policies Enhanced parental leave benefit Daily subsidized lunch program when on-site The expected salary range for this role is $169,000 to $192,800 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
