Breakthrough Public Schools is seeking a results-driven, service-oriented leader to join the school Operations team as a Director of Operations (DOO). School Operations teams focus on creating efficiency within the school’s processes and procedures, curating a warm and welcoming environment for all stakeholders, and removing operational barriers from instructional staff so they may focus on student achievement. The DOO sits on the School Leadership Team for both schools at their campus and works closely with each of the Principals.

At least 4 years of experience working in a fast-paced office environment or school
At least 2 years of experience managing a team
Adept in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and G-Suite (Docs, Slides, etc.)
Excellent word processing and grammar skills
Impeccable attention to detail
Openness to feedback
Ability to independently follow up and follow through when needed
Relentless drive for excellence
Strong strategic and critical thinking skills; grace under pressure
A track record of strong emotional intelligence and ability to engage in critical conversations when needed
Embodies self-awareness when leading, especially across lines of difference
A passion for leading by example and doing “whatever it takes” to ensure their school provides a top-tier environment for students, families, and staff
Director of Operations Position
DOOs use their analytical, technical, and operational expertise to identify and implement solutions for key school priorities. The DOO owns and successfully executes all systems and processes of school administration, enabling principals and deans to focus primarily on instruction, observation, and coaching. They take the lead in ensuring that the day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month operational and compliance processes run smoothly at their schools. DOOs effectively coach and manage a diverse and high-performing Front Office team; this team supports systems, processes, compliance, and all school stakeholders. Some key aspects of this role include:
Operations Leadership
Maintaining an “audit-ready” school in accordance with network, state, and federal requirements
Leveraging knowledge of fiscal stewardship to plan and maintain the school budget
Ensuring that the school facility is clean, joyful, inspiring, and safe
Executing all projects seamlessly
Meeting daily, weekly, and monthly operational and compliance goals
Principal Partner
Demonstrating leadership within the SLT
Serving as the principals’ “second in command” to ensure they are focused on instructional priorities
Effectively managing up to the principals when needed
Team Leader
Hiring, retaining, and developing effective Front Office team members
Setting high expectations and holding their team accountable
Supporting team in setting and working toward meaningful learning & development goals
School Leader
Modeling equity and anti-racism, and holding an asset-based belief about our families, scholars, and greater community
Internalizing and driving network and school priorities (including school culture and academic priorities)
Communicating clearly and effectively with stakeholders; helping to build inclusivity and connection amongst staff
Effectively managing time and tasks
Building exceptional relationships with students and families; supporting and equipping families with tools needed
Systems Leader
Owning and executing all non-instructional systems and processes, including, but not limited to:
Facilities management
Building safety
Enrollment
Technology
Visitors
Student health
Food service
Transportation
Purchasing
Student attendance
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
3 years of office experience required (school office experience preferred)
