Sr. Relocation Project Manager

The Building People, LLC, ("TBP") has a position open for a full-time
Senior & Relocation Project Manager . The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading a team to deliver a 2-part relocation project that includes an initial office space outfitting and transitioning move into temporary space and a final relocation to permanent space for approximately 750 employees in the Washington DC area. The Senior Relocation Project Manager reports to the TBP Senior Principal.
The successful candidate will manage project resources, schedules, financials and adhere to federal government quality control guidelines throughout the project life cycle. This also includes management of client risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. The Senior Project Manager will supervise all TBP personnel assigned to the project including time coding, leave approval, training, performance management and disciplinary actions.
This leadership role has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis and is responsible for ensuring the project achieves the required quality of deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined by the client. Also, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the company culture that fosters creativity, innovation, and advancement.
The Senior Project Manager will also have the following specific responsibilities: Develop and manage all aspects of the project engagement from planning, subcontract and external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues and ensure overall project is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of the strategic objectives. Maintain full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment to delivery. Manage project scope and changes. Prepare detailed project plans for all phases of the project. Perform internal quality control reviews to ensure project is proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards; analyze issues and troubleshooting problem areas; develops risk mitigation strategies; monitor and track resolution of issues and conflicts to ensure critical path deliverables. Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle. Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership. Develop and deliver program presentations to various audiences, including project team, clients, Program Manager and key stakeholders. Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chair the project management team meetings. Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews as necessary. Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team. Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence. Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.
Required Experience & Skills
Experience in successfully managing office relocation projects. Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget. Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques. Proven success in providing on-site leadership for project teams by building and motivating technical and non-technical team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills. Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance. Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from executives' sponsors, team members, stakeholders and peers. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations. Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence. Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands. Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices. Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Projects, and SmartSheet.
Preferred Experience & Skills
Managing furniture procurement & installation projects. Federal government experience.
Required Education
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience. 10+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects. 10+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment.
Preferred Education
PMP Preferred.
