The SCCC department is seeking a

Senior Central Cancer Registry Specialist

who identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients through the use of a registry data system. Further, the Senior Central Cancer Registry Specialist analyzes data and releases information in compliance with policies and standards. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Educates physician offices on their reporting responsibilities.

Works with reporting sources to resolve general or technical questions and issues that may arise.

Processes abstracts from assigned reporting sources and when discrepancies are identified contacts source directly.

Validates unmatched hospital in-patient discharge data, discharge dates, and hospital death clearances.

Monitors reporting sources compliance with reporting deadlines and attempts to remedy delinquent reporting through direct contact.

Assists staff in projects and contributes ideas and articles for newsletter.

Monitors cancer case reporting and looks for trends.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Certification and Licensing: Professional Coding Specialist

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
