JOB SUMMARY:
The Safety Director is responsible for the overall management, implementation, and execution of the Company Safety Program, including partnering with site supervision to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local, regional, and national regulations. The Safety Director will demonstrate their ability to build trust and confidence with field supervision and company management. They will inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments, safety data analysis, and excellent management skills. The Safety Director must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. They will instruct and train workers on safety policies and our safety standards. They will communicate safety team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to operation teams and ensure they are executing the core competencies of a safety professional. The position requires organization, a motivational attitude, and an independent work ethic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identify solutions for improvement in the organization.
Continually pursue and attend opportunities for career/training development via industry programs.
Conduct inspections of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory, safety, and environmental standards are followed.
Investigate injuries, conditions, and incidents that do or could involve actual or potential liability.
Plan and coordinate safety and health classes for craft and supervisory employees.
Attend contractor safety meetings and complete any reports required.
Manage job site compliance with all SDS regulations.
Conduct comprehensive onsite safety assessments of projects as part of a constant monitoring process and take corrective actions.
Maintain the Safety Manual and other policies.
Administer the company substance abuse program.
Plan and implement programs to train employees in work site safety practices.
Provide information, signs, posters, personal protective equipment, etc., to projects.
Review accident and incident documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete and accurate. Ensure corrective action is implemented.
Assist with regulatory reports and ensure they are submitted timely.
Maintain safety files and records.
Recommend and enforce disciplinary actions against safety policy violators.
Ensure all job site hazards are marked and protected to the greatest extent possible.
Develop and implement safety emergency plan drills.
Ensure company policies and procedures are understood and implemented consistently in the field.
Develop and continually improve the effectiveness of company safety procedures.
Work with Human Resources on all personnel-related actions.
Communicate and reinforce the company vision, values, and goals to employees.
Complete reports of inspections in a timely manner.
Represent and protect the interest of Liberty.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Thorough knowledge of construction safety work rules and relevant Washington State and OSHA requirements and regulations including OSHA Part 1910 and 1926 Safety requirements, NEC, NFPA, and ANSI standards for construction.
Intermediate PC skills with experience in MS products.
Candidate must be punctual, motivated, detail-oriented, and not accept second best.
Possess strong interpersonal skills in order to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
Must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in business strategies.
Must be willing to travel as needed.
Possess management and training experience.
Accident investigation experience.
Strong organizational skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of workers' compensation claims, investigation & support.
CHST or similar associations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Four years of work experience and/or related education specializing in Safety with one year of on-site construction environmental health and safety responsibilities.
Prior electrical safety experience a plus.
