8 Med Center East - Cohort 40 Job Summary: Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Shift: Full-Time Night Shift - 6:45 pm - 7:15 am, three 12-hour shifts per week. All shifts rotate throughout the week, including weekends and holidays. NOTE: Shifts
cannot
be set to specific days unless the job postings lists specific days. Please take this into consideration before interviewing, especially if you have other commitments such as school (PRN not included). Care Partner Position Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
AND
one of the following: Current
enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN
and
successful completion of the first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (the certification is not mandatory but a certificate of completion is necessary), or Minimum of one year of previous ( and within the past two years ) experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/patient care technician. **

The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions. DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: We care for adult patients 18 and older who are being treated for a variety of medical diagnoses. These diagnoses cover a wide range of disease processes including pulmonary, renal, hepatology, endocrine, and post-procedural patients. Some of our patient population requires knowledge of home vents, wound care, as well as care of patients on some continuous medication drips, including insulin. One of the perks of working on our unit is the expertise you will gain from caring for such a diverse population of patients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards. Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs. Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards. The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: CLINICAL COMPETENCIES (Novice): Demonstrates competence with interventions (such as point of care testing, vital signs, etc.) in practical applications of moderate difficulty. CARE PARTNER PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (Novice): Independently works with clinical applications for patient documentation. ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (Novice): Demonstrates ability to set up and maintain patient rooms, supplies, and equipment. PLANNING & ORGANIZING (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate basic resource needs, identify discrete tasks, participates in goal setting, define dependencies, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work for own assignments and responsibilities.
