Position Information
There is one (1) vacancy with the
Department of Parks and Recreation , Executive Services Division. This position is located at Kapolei Hale. Under general direction, this Planner V (Social Planning) position is responsible for designing, executing, reviewing and updating major studies and planning projects for future growth of the social and physical needs for parks, gardens and urban forestry and is responsible for long-range plans and programs of island wide significance. Position may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Position also serves as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT : Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with specialization in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : Four (4) years of professional work experience in socio-economic research, including or supplemented by two years of professional work experience in the planning, development and formulation of social or community action projects and programs.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of sources and uses of socio-economic information; and the ability to translate ideas and recommendations into plans and drawings which are in conformance with laws and regulations and with the best social, economic, and public interest utilization.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT : Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required. (The current vacancy does not require a driver's license.)
