Onsite- Working at Headquarters in Altamonte Springs, FL or at an AdventHealth facility in the Multi-state region The role you’ll contribute: The Executive Director of Government Advocacy is responsible for assisting in the implementation of AdventHealth's company-wide public policy agenda at the federal level; leading and supporting advocacy efforts in the Multistate Division; works closely with Florida market advocacy leaders to execute federal advocacy strategies; implementing corporate advocacy activities; leading and/or working closely with advocacy and executive leaders systemwide; and building strong relationships with federal elected officials and policymakers. This role also informs the advocacy strategy adopted in our Multistate markets regarding state legislative policies, partnering with leaders in different markets. Proactively develops and communicates key public policy issues through a variety of internal and external communication tools. Adheres to policies and procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relations that are equally respectful to all. Keen understanding of federal legislative, regulatory and rule-making processes. Command of core federal healthcare programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, supplemental funding programs, not-for-profit/tax-exempt status, tax policies, transparency and budget to educate key stakeholders including leadership, federal and state elected officials, industry allies and community organizations. Assists in the development and execution of federal advocacy priorities. Works closely with Multistate and Florida advocacy leaders to proactively monitor, analyze and forecast federal legislative and public policy issues and the implications at the state level. Works closely with the leadership of the Adventist Health Policy Association to plan and execute that organization's advocacy strategy. Supports market advocacy leaders in their relationships with federal officials. Works with internal teams to conduct research on federal and Multistate advocacy priorities. Monitors federal legislation of interest, developing summaries and communication materials as needed. In partnership with internal teams, regular updates Federal Advocacy Priorities leave behinds and other collaterals needed for federal advocacy, including talking points, letters of support/dissent, and industry trends for use in internal and external advocacy efforts. Works with internal teams and market government advocacy leaders to proactively develop and implement issues management strategies for federal issues impacting their respective states and local communities. Interfaces proactively with markets on key government advocacy issues to educate stakeholders and inform state strategies. Monitors and manages interactions with leadership regarding federal issues management and legislative proposals. In conjunction leaders in our multi-state markets, informs development and execution of state advocacy priorities. Works with internal teams to develop a multi-year advocacy agenda. Manages federal lobbyists activity. Partners with national health care policy organizations advance legislative priorities. Leads in the development and implementation of annual plans and core messages. Supports the development and cultivation of relationship-building with the federal delegations among markets, as well with key committees of health care jurisdiction. In concert with market advocacy leaders, develops and maintains positive relationships with key federal stakeholders, including: Members of Congress and key Committee chairs Presidential and congressional candidates Elected officials' staff, committee staff Federal regulatory staff members Maintains high visibility at relevant public events Qualifications The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: Bachelor's degree in business, political science, journalism, public administration, organizational communication or other applicable discipline. Ten or more years in government/public affairs, issues management and/or corporate communications. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Services Administration, or other applicable discipline. Fifteen years' experience in management and public policy, particularly experience in the health care field. Experience working with or within the legislative process. Experience in hospital administration, marketing, and business. Working knowledge of the various clinical and business-related departments of a hospital.
