Responsibilities Educate participants about the scientific and meteorological causes of global warming through in-residence courses, seminars, and conferences. Consult with practitioners and conduct science needs assessments to translate climate information needs into effective climate mitigation plans. Develop climate change research and publications for diverse audiences. Communicate scientific findings to non-academic audiences, including governments and policy makers. Work with partner nation officials to mitigate climate change threats to communities in Latin America and the Caribbean. Advise governments on adapting to climate change effects. Identify interagency efforts to combat climate change. Prepare armed forces for climate change-related disasters. Examine ways to increase regional cooperation in response to worsening climate conditions. Possess excellent communication and writing skills. Have experience with co-production and scientific needs assessment. Demonstrate familiarity with climate science and impacts. Able to convene and organize meetings and workshops. Knowledge of climate resilience planning and implementation. Qualifications Four plus (4+) years of professional experience as a subject matter expert on climate change issues. Ability to speak and write Spanish and English is required. Master's degree in climatology, earth sciences, or environmental sciences or equivalent. Doctorate degree in earth or environmental sciences is preferred. Occasional travel within the continental United States and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
