Job DescriptionDalton High School is hiring a new Head Football Coach. The candidate will also serve as a classroom teacher (content area to be determined) and a football liaison for the Dalton community.Click on the link below to see a preview of the Dalton High School football program.Monitor student academic and course progression for post-secondary successInstruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team successPlan and conduct activities for a balanced program of classroom instruction, demonstrations, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigateAdvise, coordinate, assist in hiring, and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principalInstruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletesStrategically work to develop and assist players participating in the Little Cats program, middle school program, and recreational programs that feed to Dalton Public SchoolsThorough knowledge of all the athletic policies/athletic code of conduct approved by the Dalton Public Schools Board of Education as well as the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) ConstitutionDelegate specific duties, supervise implementation and, at season’s end, analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate all assistantsEnforce student discipline and work to maintain high morale and cooperation in our football programWork in unison with the community and Quarterback Club to create the best experiences for our student athletesAttend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as assignedAttend and assign assistant coaches to attend feeder program gamesBuild a comprehensive football program that includes a full summer program including camps, 7 on 7 opportunities, and provides multiple opportunities for players to participate in the summer program while supporting multi-sport athletesPerform other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director/principalQUALIFICATIONSMust hold or be able to obtain a Valid Georgia Teaching CertificateHead Varsity coaching/coordinator experience preferredHas the ability to organize and supervise a complete football programMust serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes/coaches both on and off the fieldExcellent verbal and written communication skillsReview of applications and interviews will be scheduled as appropriate as applications are received and selection of a candidate may occur at any time.Work Schedule:This position works a 12-month contract.Salary range advertised reflects current teacher salary scale.
