Position Overview:

As the Director of Operations, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving the success of our food manufacturing plant. Your strategic vision, leadership, and operational expertise will be critical to achieving our organizational goals. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute a long-term plant strategy aligned with overall company objectives.

Innovate and push boundaries to achieve company objectives.

Anticipate industry trends, identify growth opportunities, and adapt to changing market conditions.

Evaluate complex situations, consider various factors, and make informed choices that impact the entire operation

Operational Excellence:

Continuously improve operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.

Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, quality standards, and hygiene practices.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.

Supply Chain and Logistics:

Oversee the entire supply chain process, from raw materials procurement to finished product distribution.

Efficiently manage inventory levels and collaborate with suppliers and distributors.

Manage relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms.

Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues promptly.

Identify potential new suppliers to enhance the supply chain

Financial Management:

Oversee financial aspects, including budget creation, cost analysis, and expense management.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to costs and profitability.

Full P&L responsibility.

Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to track expenses and maintain profitability.

People Leadership and Development:

Motivate and guide your team, including managers, supervisors, and front-line employees.

Clearly convey expectations, goals, and performance standards to your team through active listening and empathy.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and development. Identify high-potential employees and provide opportunities for growth.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

Prioritize employee safety and enforce safety protocols rigorously.

Stay informed about health and safety regulations.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments (R&D, HR, Sales, Marketing) to align operations with business goals.

Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Risk Management:

Assess operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Prepare contingency plans for potential disruptions (e.g., supply shortages, equipment failures).

Industry-Specific Knowledge :

Understand the intricacies of food production, packaging, and distribution. Familiarity with food safety certifications (e.g., HACCP) is advantageous.

Stay informed about industry-specific regulations, such as FDA guidelines for food processing facilities.

Change Management:

Lead your team through organizational changes, technological advancements, and market shifts.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Preferred

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in engineering, business, or operations management)

Minimum of 10 years in a high-speed manufacturing environment

At least 5 years of management experience overseeing teams of Managers and Supervisors.

Proven ability to achieve targets successfully in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment

Change Management Leader

Effective coaching, communication, conflict resolution, facilitation, presentation, employee engagement, and team-building skills

Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.

Financial acumen and budget management. Understanding financial statements and interpreting financial data.

Deep experience with food safety.

Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies (demonstrated through successful process improvement projects).

Prior experience in the CPG industry preferred – Food is a plus

Preferred Any or All of the Following Certifications, But Not Required

Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

Lean, Six Sigma Certification, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

Project Management Professional (PMP)

Food Safety Certifications (e.g., HACCP or SQF)

Occupational Health and Safety Certifications

Quality Management Certifications (e.g., ISO 9001)
